Aloe spectabilis, commonly known as the Tilt-head Aloe or Tilting Aloe, is a distinctive succulent native to Madagascar. It is characterized by its rosettes of fleshy, lance-shaped leaves with prominent teeth along the edges.

  • Size: Aloe spectabilis typically grows to a height of 1 to 30 to 60 cm with a spread of about 30 to 60 cm.
  • Leaves: The leaves are arranged in rosettes and are often bluish-green in color. They have a slight tilt or lean to one side, giving the plant its common name.
  • Flowers: Mature plants produce tall, branched inflorescences bearing tubular, orange to red flowers. Flowering usually occurs in late winter to early spring.
  • Light: Aloe spectabilis thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. Place it near a sunny window where it can receive several hours of sunlight per day.
  • Watering: Water Aloe spectabilis sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out partially between waterings. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot. Water more sparingly during the winter months when the plant is dormant.
  • Temperature: Aloe spectabilis prefers warm temperatures between 18°C to 27°C. Protect it from temperatures below 10°C, as prolonged cold exposure can damage the plant.
